In my experience, there is no brand that is more fun than Bread and Butter. Bread and Butter is not just a fun brand, but I found that the Fat Boy is an amazing paddle. And, I will cover how much I liked this paddle later, but I liked the paddle so much that I was excited to try and review the Bread and Butter Filth paddle and the Bread and Butter Shogun paddle.
It provided much more than what I expected, so let’s cover the unboxing experience, playability and paddle specifications.
Unboxing Experience
Brad and Butter’s unboxing experience is unparalleled in that it is an amazingly fun experience, but it also makes you extremely excited about playing with the paddle.
Let’s start with the extremely fun box.
Now, when I opened this box, I was half expecting an actual donut considering they have a loco chili sauce that may come with another paddle.
Next, let’s look at the paddle and
I loved that the Fat Boy pickleball paddle box contained really fun stickers that my daughters loved, but I also loved the “tennis sucks” beer cuzzi. Is there anything more fun?
It also had an amazing pickleball cover and just a beautiful paddle.
If you have a great unboxing experience, but your paddle sucks. Then everything breaks down. That didn’t happen at all with the Fat Boy, so let’s cover playability next.
Playability
The unboxing experience was impressive, but the playability of this paddle was on another level. I’ve tried countless paddles before, but I really felt that the Fay Boy provided an all around amazing experience.
Here’s what stood out to me.
Control
What I noticed right off the bay when opening the box was, “Wide paddle. Sweet control”.
So, I had an expectation that this paddle would provide great control, and it lived up to its expectations.
This paddle offers outstanding control. I felt like I could direct the ball precisely where I wanted, and I made fewer unforced errors as a result.
Since I mostly play singles, control is crucial for me, and the Fat Boy provided that and more.
Spin
Let’s talk about spin.
The Fat Boy pickleball paddle has a beautiful Kevlar weave, which I believe gave this paddle a beautiful spin.
One of my serves involves spinning the paddle from right to left—a technique a friend suggested to match my natural forehand.
I used that serve almost exclusively in the matches mentioned above, and it was flawless, adding plenty of spin that made returns difficult.
Now, let’s dive into power.
Power
The Fay Boy is an exceptional all-around paddle, and that does not stop with power. I expected a control/spin power to not provide as much power as the Fat Boy provided.
Honestly, it felt like an all American paddle of paddles, providing a perfect blend of control, spin, and the power needed to perform.

Bread and Butter nailed the Fat Boy on the donut hole (pun intended). The company provided an amazing, fun unboxing experience, a fantastic paddle that allowed me to play a great game.
