One of the blogs I follow recommended that the SixZero Double Black Diamond pickleball paddle was the #1 paddle in 2024.
That’s a huge claim, so I wanted to see all the commotion and purchased the Six Zero Double Black Diamond to review and share my thoughts on the 14mm vs 16mm paddle.
Firstly, the paddle has a nice design in my opinion, and is target towards more advanced players given the “6.0” in the name that is referring to a 6.0 DUPR rated player, which is a professional pickleball player.
The paddle also comes with a great looking cover.
The paddle is also designed in Australia, which I find fun because many of the 52 paddles I own are designed in the United States or China.
Unboxing Experience
Unfortunately, there was not really an unboxing experience for this premium paddle. I know unboxing experiences are mainly a marketing play, so I would appreciate if the paddle is even better if it doesn’t come in a nice box.
That said, a nice unboxing experience makes you more excited about the paddle as it my experience with the Volair Mach 2 Forza.
Playability
As you can see below, I have the 14mm vs the 16mm Six Zero double black diamond, but when you compare it the 16mm, you can’t see much of a difference with the edge.
So, with a 14mm pickleball paddle, I am expecting a good amount of power, so let’s discuss that first.
Power
Although this appears to be a power paddle, I did not get nearly the power that I have received from other paddles such as the CRBN x1.
I thought that it had quite a bit of power, but I would expect more if this is truly a power paddle.
Spin
The paddle has a carbon face with grit that allows you to grip the ball, producing spin of the ball. That said, I didn’t feel that I had an incredible amount of spin with this paddle either.
For example, I did not generate nearly the spin as other paddles that are in the best pickleball paddles for spin category.
Control
Finally, thankfully, I felt that the Double Black Diamond pickleball paddle provided a good amount of control. For example, I felt that the paddle allowed for control on both drives and dinking.
That said, I would not put this paddle in a top paddle for control.
So, the Six Zero Double Black Diamond is a fine paddle, but I didn’t feel it provided what I would expect from a premium paddle at this price point.

Should You Get The Six Zero Double Black Diamond 14mm vs 16mm?

I purchased the 14mm Six Zero Double Black Diamond paddle as that a more power focused paddle. The issue with my purchase is that I have constantly felt that I have very little control and less power than my Joola Ben Johns Pro IV 16mm.
So, if you like control, you may want to consider the Six Zero Double Black Diamond 16mm. If you like raw power, you may consider the 14mm, but consider that you may have challenges with control.
Should You Purchase the Six Zero Double Black Diamond?
If you are an advanced player, you may have a different experience than me, so it’s ultimately your decision.
The sixZero double black diamond is currently higher priced than the Vatic Pro Prism Flash, and the Joola Hyperion Ben Johns, which I prefer to this paddle.
