I have 4 young daughters that I have been teaching how to play pickleball, and I am also a self-proclaimed pickleball paddle fanatic, so it seemed fitting writing article coverging the best pickleball paddles for kids.

Should you get a kid’s paddle?

Personally, I purchase a kids paddle, and I would not purchase another kid’s paddle again.

Why?

Because I felt that the smaller grip and handle and everything was actually a detriment to their learning. My kids liked the bigger paddle face because it gave them more of a sweet spot (albeit heavier). That said, let’s look at my best pickleball paddles for kids.

My favorite paddles for kids

My favorite paddle is broken out by beginner and beginner plus. If you’re kid is in the 3-10 range, I would recommend considering pickleball paddles that are extremely cheap because the kids hit the ground a lot.

In addition, kids don’t play well with paddles when they are swinging them around everywhere.

When your kids are out of the beginner phase, I would consider lesser expensive carbon fiber face paddles as it gives them ability to have control and power, similar to the ones below.

Beginner Paddles

Honestly, for kids, I would purchase a paddle that is very inexpensive. My daughter below is holding a DLJZGC Pickleball Racket with 16mm Polypropylene that is less than $10 from Amazon.

If you are set to purchase an actual kids pickleball paddle, then we purchased this pickleball paddle from Amazon for our daughter, and I thought it was okay. I appreciated the fact that it stated “girl power”, and definitely fit the hands of our 2 year old.

Another thing that was interesting about this paddle that it came with a bag that was way too big for the paddle.

Beginner Plus Paddles

Once your kid becomes a better player, then there are some best pickleball paddles that I get more excited for. Firstly, I prefer carbon fiber pickleball paddles for my kids because it gives the kids both power and control.

That said, I may purchase a pickleball paddle that is still economically affordable. Here are my best 2 pickleball paddles that I would recommend to anyone.

3 of my daughters preferred a pickleball paddle that has a cut design based instead of a kid’s padle. The one that may have preferred a kids pickleball paddle was my 2 year old.

That said, if your kid definitely prefers a lightweight paddle then maybe it makes sense to purchase a kid’s paddle.

Summing It All Up

At this point, I would not recommend a kid’s pickleball paddle that is created for kids.

Instead, I would recommend an inexpensive pickleball paddle that you could use as kid’s pickleball paddle until they get experienced for a beginner plus paddle.
