Someone recently pinged me on my YouTube Channel for a Luzz pickleball cannon paddle review, so I received the paddle, and am ready to share everything you need to know about this paddle.
Founded in 2019, Luzz is a pickleball brand inspired by the Spanish word “luz,” meaning light and brightness. The name reflects the brand’s mission, which is to bring lightness and joy into everyday life through pickleball. It’s a fun story.
Let’s cover my first impressions, the Luzz Cannon’s playability, the cost considerations (including how to use the BEPICKLEBALLER 15% off discount code), and whether this may be the best paddle under $100.
First Impressions
Firstly, I love the first impressions with the box. You get the immediate feeling of luxury with a high quality box.

When you open the box, you are immediately greeted by the Luzz Cannon pickleball paddle. I received the black Cannon, but you can get this fun multi-color “candy cannon” paddle for about $5 more than is many different colors.

Here’s a side view

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the unboxing experience. It didn’t have many other knick knacks, but that is 100% okay.
Let’s talk about how much this paddle costs before discussing playability
Cost Considerations
I reached out to the Luzz team to see if they would be able to provide a discount to my readers, and they really came through. The team provided a really generous with my reader with a 15% discount code: bepickleballer, which is also one of the best discounts as most brands give around 10% off.
In addition, that puts this paddle at $92.65 aftert the discount code

Playability
In my opinion, the paddle’s playability is the most important aspect in addition to its value, and the Luzz Cannon did not disappoint.
Control
I tend to prioritize control over sheer speed or power, which is exactly why the Luzz Cannon stands out to me. The thicker 16mm core gives it that plush, controlled feel that allows the ball to sink in just a little longer on contact.
That moment of dwell time gives me more precision on resets, dinks, and third shots, which gave me the kind of control that wins long rallies rather than just flashy points.
Spin
Compared to thinner paddles, the 16mm version doesn’t sacrifice consistency. The sweet spot feels generous, allowing me to keep shots dialed in even when I’m slightly off-center.
I find that this model absorbs pace beautifully for top spins and slices.
While you’ll lose a bit of hand speed compared to lighter, thinner paddles, the stability and touch more than make up for it. If your game is built around spin and power, and soft hands at the kitchen line, the Luzz Cannon 16mm feels like it was made for you.
Power
Power-wise, the Luzz Cannon offers what I’d call controlled power with a thermoformed unibody structure with a T700 carbon fiber surface. When you engage your full swing, you’ll feel the weight transfer and depth that come from its added mass.
It’s ideal for players who want to guide their shots rather than muscle them. For me, the Luzz Cannon pickleball paddle hits that perfect balance which is smooth, solid, and incredibly reliable in the hands of a control-focused player.

My paddle weighed right in at 7.8 ounces which is a weight that I love because you can add weight to this paddle, but I have really loved the Ronbus Quanta’s lightweight 7.6 ounce paddle.

Should You Purchase the Luzz Cannon?
The Luzz Cannon is an excellent paddle choice, especially in the under $100 range.
The paddle provides great power, spin and control, making this the swiss army knife of pickleball paddles.
I have not developed the best paddles under $100 in 2025, but I could definitely see this paddle has a contention to make it on the list. Kudos to the Luzz team as I can’t wait to try more of their paddles.
