I own 60-70 pickleball paddles, and the Rhylion is one of the most unique paddle that I own. The Paddlesshop team continued to innovate after released the Planker pickleball paddle, which is also an excellent paddle.

As always, let’s cover first impressions, what makes this paddle unique, playability and specifications.

First Impressions

Firstly, I love the presentation of this paddle. The paddle has an elongated face, which is really neat. I love the art of this paddle with the image in the center and that image fading to see the name Rhylion on the side of the paddle. The paddle’s face feels really good as it has raw T700 carbon fiber with a durable grit surface.

Secondly, when you see the Rhylion’s side, you will see one of the first pickleball paddles on the market with adjustable swingweight technology. I’ll explain more of what that means later, but it’s super interesting, and I loved using it.

I really liked the design of this Rhylion paddle, and the introduction to the swingweight technology.

Unique Features

I didn’t include this in my first impressions, but the paddle comes with a little tool that you may first thing is not meant to come with a pickleball paddle. The paddle also comes with 3 of Paddleshop’s grip tapes.

Here’s a close up picture of the tool.

Well, the tool goes to the special swingweight technology mentioned earlier where you can change the balance point by sliding the 5 grams forward or backward.

A forward placement boost stability and power for aggressive baseline shots, and a backward placement provides enhanced precision and control for quicker rallies.

All that to say, how does the pickleball paddle play?

Playability

Since getting the paddle, I have been playing multiple sessions with this paddle. The paddle is impressive.

Control

In my first games, I noticed how much control that the Rhylion paddle provided me. The paddle has a hybrid carbon fiber build, which essentially means advanced layering that provides a larger sweet spot for consistent hits.

I felt that on my dinks and drives. I enjoyed how large the paddle’s face was as well as you really get a solid opportunity to control where you place the ball each time.

In one of my recent games with a top Joola paddle, I hit the edgeguard and the ball went out of bounds easily. Thankfully, the Rhylion has edgefoam technology with no edgeguard, so you aren’t going to miss shots due to frame interference.

Power

When I started playing with the Rhylion, I slide the sliders up to increase my power. And power is what this paddle delivered.

My main serve is a power serve, and I saw that power immediately on my first serves. What a unique experience that the Rhylion paddle can opt for power or control based again on that swing weight technology.

It wasn’t just the serves that delivered. I also had powerful forehand and backhand drives that allowed me to win points.

Spin

I love to do a knuckle serve with massive spin, and I loved the textured grit surface that provided increased friction that allowed those services to provide high spin shots.

In addition, you will see solid opportunity for both slice shot and top spins. Rhylion’s desire was to create a paddle that was truly different, and it 100% succeeded.

Cost Considerations

Impressively, the Rhylion pickleball paddle is already under $100, but the Paddleshop team was generous enough to provide the code: pickleballer that you can use to get an additional 10% off.
