You may not believe this, but I played with a $200 paddle today against my friend who is probably in the 4.0-4.5 DUPR range. He beat me 3 games in a row, but then I switched to this PBVMURTG pickleball paddle in game 4, and won the game 11-3. I could not believe it.
Let’s start with some back story why I chose this paddle. I was researching inexpensive carbon fiber paddles for a friend, and stumbled across this PBVMURTG pickleball paddle,
Yes, I have around 50 pickleball paddles, but I am always trying to find an excuse to buy another paddle. What struck me about this paddle is that it costs under $50 on Amazon and looks eerily familiar to the JoJolemon pickleball paddle that isa round $100, but the story gets more interesting.
See the difference?
So, I researched and wrote one of my favorite articles covering JoJoLemon’s crazy story, but I didn’t want to spend $100 on the JoJoLemon on the paddle, so I purchased the PBVMURTG paddle.
Was the paddle worth it?
1000% yes.
While this paddle has a crazy name, this is best pickleball paddle under $50 in my opinion. It has a crazy unboxing experience, and comes with a cover, a carbon fiber cleaner, and grip tape. Is this a joke?
Also, please note that the link below helps support this website and allows me to write unbiased reviews as I get approximately $1.31 if you purchase this paddle through the link. That said, please do not feel like you have to use it!
Let’s talk about the unboxing experience.
Unboxing Experience:
I cannot believe that a paddle under $50 from Amazon came in a box. Some of my most expensive pickleball paddles just came in a cheap bag. This paddle came in a box!
When you open the box, you see this beautiful cover, carbon fiber cleaner, and grip tape. This pickleball paddle box is also a nice box. Honestly, I was so impressed that a brand could make money with a $32.99 paddle with these additional accessories.
Finally, the paddle itself is nice. When you look in the box, it actually looks like a decent carbon fiber paddle.
While the sweet spot feels small, I still cannot believe you get this for such a low price.
Let’s next talk about the playability of this paddle.
Let’s be honest. That is all that really matters.
Playability
As stated before, I felt that this paddle looks like a very nice paddle and plays well, but it felt a bit stiff when playing with the paddle. For example, I felt that it had a smaller sweet spot than some of my other paddles in the $100 range.
That said, I really liked this paddle overall. I felt that it provided solid control, spin and power considering the carbon fiber face, and the 16mm instead of 14mm thickness.
Finally, I tested this $32.99 PBVMURTG pickleball paddle against my $29.99 Anything Sports (discontinued) carbon fiber pickleball paddle, and felt that this paddle was actually a better paddle. And I loved my old Anything Sports paddle, so kudos to this very random brand.
It’s still crazy to me that this carbon fiber pickleball paddle was under $35.
Conclusion
The PBVMURTG pickleball is my favorite pickleball paddle under $50. While I do not like the brand name (perhaps PB stands for pickleball), and I don’t understand it whatsoever, I still think this is a great paddle for this price point.
