After getting multiple pairs of men’s pickleball shoes from Asics, Adidas and K Swiss, I decided it was time to review ReeBok pickleball shoes.
I opted for the Reebok Unisex Court Advance pickleball shoes. Firstly, I loved how well priced these were on Amazon, so I pulled the trigger.
Let’s talk about first impressions.
First Impressions
One of my favorite pair of shoes are vintage off-white Reeboks that are highly comfortable, so I was ecstatic to see how well designed these shoes were.
I opted for the plain white with colored lettering, but many of the designs just spoke to my style.
When I put on the shoes, I found that the shoes were quite comfortable, and that I could use these shoes for nice work dinners and pickleball as well.
Unlike my other pickleball shoes that look like pickleball shoes, these shoes had so much style that allows you to play wherever.
This actually worked out perfectly for me as I had a work trip to San Diego, and wore these shoes to dinner. Little did I know that we went to a place after dinner that had an indoor pickleball court.
I actually was able to play pickleball with these pickleball shoes at a nice work event. I was ecstatic.
In terms of weight, these Reebok pickleball shoes weighed 15.5 ounces which is a bit heavier than other shoes I liked.
For fun, I weighed other favorite Reebok shoes I own and found that those shoes weighed 12.4 ounces. Potentially the pickleball shoes weigh more due to the grip material.
Let’s discuss how these shoes performed on the court.
How The Shoes Performed On the Court
I like to review pickleball shoes for grip, speed, comfort, and durability, so let’s start with grip.
Grip
I thought the grip on the Reebok pickleball shoes were good, but not excellent.
Playing pickleball outdoors requires footwear that can grip cement surfaces much like those used in indoor courts.
These shoes provided decent traction, allowing me to pivot and move laterally with ease.
Their design made transitioning side-to-side okay, but I didn’t feel that they provided the same level of grip of other pickleball shoes in my arsenal such as the K Swiss pickleball shoes.
Speed
For both singles and doubles, speed is a critical factor. Since I primarily play singles pickleball, I need to quickly advance to the kitchen line after the initial return to establish a solid defense.
With the Reebok pickleball shoes, I felt slower compared to my experience with Asics shoes.
This speed may be due to the weight of these shoes at 15.5 ounces, and I suspect the construction of the grip might play a role. While the strong grip is beneficial in some areas, it seems to hinder quick bursts of speed.
I couldn’t quite pinpoint the exact issue, but I found myself wishing for a little more agility from these shoes.
Durability
Based on my use, the Reebok shoes appear to be highly durable. The materials feel robust, and after several sessions on the court, I haven’t noticed any signs of wear.
In addition, as mentioned before, I played pickleball with these shoes and I also use these shoes when walking around, so I have been using these shoes more often than many of my pickleball shoes.
Comfort
I would argue that these are some of the most comfortable pickleball shoes other than the weight. It appears that Reebook uses memory tech foam to provide more comfort per the picture below.
I did not get any blisters when playing with these shoes, and I always appreciate that.
Cost Considerations
These shoes tend to be under $50, which is some of my lowest priced pickleball shoes in my wardrobe. That said, you may want to check the price on Amazon as these shoes do go on sale every once in a while.
In addition, you may also consider reading my article on the Asics pickleball shoes and comparing the price for that option if you want a potentially higher cost option.
Specifications
An important aspect about pickleball shoes is what the shoes are made of. Here are the specifications for the Reebok Unisex Adult Court Advance.
- Leather upper
- OrthoLite® sockliner
- Lace closure
- DMX Microbubbles in midsole
- Textile lining
- Durable rubber outsole
- Perforations on toe box
- Product color : Ftwr White / Oat / Bone
Conclusion
I liked these Reebok pickleball shoes much more than I thought I would like them. These shoes are under $50, and allow you to wear them on the pickleball courts and on the go.
For that, I would definitely rank these in the top pickleball shoes for men.
