I wanted to purchase and review the Niupipo pickleball paddle as it has over 10,000 ratings on Amazon with an impressive 4.6 rating. In this article, I’ll cover:
- What I Liked
- What I Didn’t Like
- Alternatives
- Specifications
- My Unboxing Experience
- Is the Niupipo paddle worth it?
Let’s get started.
What I Liked
Here’s a couple of things that I liked about the paddle.
The purchase experience
As you’ll see below, niupipo probably had my favorite unboxing experience than any other paddle. I purchased the the niupipo with the fiberglass face as you can see below, and when I was clicking around on Niupipo’s paddles on Amazon, I found that they have a carbon fiber option as well.
Oversized Grip
I liked the size of the racket. The grip felt overall higher quality, and I felt that I could move the ball around well on the court. I felt that the feel of the grip was okay, and it matched my larger hands.
This definitely felt like a beginner paddle, but the 13.5mm pickleball paddle made this paddle have difficulty providing the control that I like to see in a paddle.
What I Don’t Like
Here were the biggest things I disliked about this padd.e
Playability
I have tested this paddle more, and I still don’t love the playability. The size makes me think this is made as a beginner paddle, but the fiberglass surface and the 13.5mm makes this seem like a more advanced paddle.
In addition, I didn’t feel like the paddle could grip the ball on the court similar to other paddles I have. From a power and hand speed, the paddle was fine at 7.6 ounces
Let’s look at alternatives.
Alternatives
Here are my favorite alternatives with one option being less expensive and another being more expensive.
Let’s cover the less expensive option first.
PBVMURTG Pickleball Paddle
I won my first game against a much better opponent with the PBVMURTG Pickleball Paddle carbon fiber paddle from Amazon. At the time of this writing, the paddle is under $50 on Amazon. That’s affordable for a carbon fiber paddle.
The grip is not as long as my other paddles, so that is a negative for larger hands, such as myself. That said, I believe this paddle plays better than some of my fiberglass paddles in the $60-$90 range.
On Amazon, this paddle has a 4.7 rating. In addition, I loved the unboxing experience of this paddle that can be found in my full review.
Vatic Pro Prism
This has been my go-to paddle recently. I have started to win more games against friends that I previously never beat.
I really like the feel and play compared to my Joola Ben Johns Hyperion and my SixZero Double Black Diamond. The paddle has a great carbon fiber face, and provides both power and control in my play.
This paddle is just under $100, but thankfully, you can use the code: BePickleBaller for an additional $10 off the final price. I also appreciate that the paddle comes with a nice cover.
If you do consider the Vatic Pro Prism paddle, you have a decision between a 14mm vs 16mm paddle. That defines the thickness of the paddle, and if you are intermediate or advanced player, you may ops for 14mm while a beginner may opt for a 16mm thickness.
Let’s next cover the specifications.
Specifications
Here are the specification of the Niupipo paddle that I purchased.
- Model: MX-01
- Size: 15.5 * 7.9 * 0.5″
- Weight: 7.68 ounces
- Material: Fiberglass
One thing that I liked about Niupipo is that it appears that most of it’s models are approved by USA Pickleball, including the MX-01 that I purchased.
Unboxing
I am a self proclaimed pickleball paddle nerd as I have purchased 25-50 paddles, and just purchased another 2 this evening. So, I like the unboxing experience as it makes me excited about the paddle.
Overall, Niupipo’s paddles hit the mark. First, it came with a nice box, including the artistic paddle and the paddle case. Check out the images belwo.
That said, I care less about the unboxing experience and more about the play of the racket, so let’s get into that next.
Is the Niupipo Paddle Worth It?
I am not sure. For it’s price point, I may look at alternatives, but if you like an aesthetically pleasing experience, this paddle may work well for you.
