The Power Pro is a series of Holbrook carbon fiber paddles that play exceptionally well and do not break the bank in price. Designed in Utah, the Power Pro series was released during the Summer of 2023 for players wanting to level up from the Mav Pro Series. It’s the predecessor to the Aero series (2024) and the Arma series (2025).
The Power Pro Series offers a polypropylene-filled core that extends the sweet spot beyond many of its competitor’s paddles, offering more power and control for players looking to advance their game. The T700 Carbon Fiber is molded into the Power Pro’s surface and lasts much longer than any sprayed-on carbon surface. The grit encourages spin in serves and returns.
I would be remiss not to mention the Holbrook grips. While it seems insignificant, the tacky grip is an immediate “wow” factor. I love that it feels good right from the start. Everyone who grabs my paddle from the rack immediately inspects the handle because it is so good. I only wish the white wouldn’t show the dirt so quickly, but then again I don’t wear white for the same reason.
The highlight of the Power Pro series is its affordability. Players can grab this advanced carbon fiber paddle for $150 – a price that many other companies do not match for this level of paddle. In addition, the Holbrook family provided an amazing 15% discount for my readers (which is better on their webiste) with the code: bepickleballer. It’s always appreciated, but never expected to use my code as it does help support my writing.
First Impressions
The Holbrook excitement begins the moment you lay eyes on the packaging.
Simple and elegant, Holbrook has forgone flashy and splashy for a black-and-white statement brand. Perfect for the minimalist who cares more about function and form, than wild and loud graphics. You know you are about to open something different. It’s a feeling. Like the black label of paddles.
My first impression was incredible, but what’s most important is playability, so let’s cover that next.
Playability
The Power Pro is one of the most versatile paddles offering a shape and size for everyone. It is lightweight (7.7-8.0 ounces) which is appealing to many players. The paddle comes in 16mm and 14mm, elongated (Power Pro E), and has three color options – white (16mm or 14mm), pink (14mm), or light blue (16mm). If you look hard enough, you might be able to score one of the 12mm Power Pro paddles that were part of the original release.
The Power Pro is perfect for any player working to improve their game. From intermediate to advanced play, it is the perfect paddle that grows with your game and does not hold you back on the path to 4.0 and beyond.
That said, let’s look at control, power and spin.
Control
The 16mm Power Pro has incredible control and predictability. It’s a solid hit with its extended sweet spot, this paddle feels like my favorite blanket on a cold night. Dependable and yet somewhat forgiving, the 16mm is definitely for the player who relies on their paddle to help with those shots that they are still working to perfect.
The 14mm Power Pro does not sacrifice control over power. Many players are afraid to leap a 16 to a 14mm because it has been ingrained in them, that you can only get control with a 16mm. This is not true at all! Step out of your comfort zone and try the 14mm Power Pro, you will be pleasantly surprised!
If you can get your hands on the 12mm Power Pro, get ready for a wily ride. There is a difference in the control of the 12mm and if you are brave enough to go for it, be patient with your shots and keep your eye on the ball or this paddle will take you for a ride.
Spin
All Power Pro paddles have the Unidirectional T700 Carbon Fiber surface which brings grit to the game for the player who loves to catch their opponent off-guard witih a spinning serve. The surface of a paddle enhances all three features of any paddle – power, grit, and control.
The T700 surface is solid and is molded onto the paddle’s construction. Some paddles claim to have a carbon fiber surface, but it may be sprayed on instead of built into the paddle construction. One of the ways to tell is if you cannot clean the surface with a carbon paddle eraser and if you have to use something that is wet (water or other cleaner) to clean the paddle.
The Power Pro’s T700 surface is durable and will last longer if cleaned periodically. These surfaces can be cleaned with any carbon fiber eraser to keep the surface fresh and gritty.
Power
The Power Pro brings more power to the court than some of its competitors. The Unibody Edgrcraft Foam Polypropylene Core reduces the vibration of every pop and extends the sweet spot to over 50% of the paddle’s face. In other words, this paddle has impressive power and pop. The 14mm and the hard-to-find 12mm, increase the power exponentially.
For players who are looking for a heavier paddle (the Power Pro weighs in at 7.7-8.0 ounces), I suggest adding some lead tape. If you have never added weight to your paddle, the cautionary tale is to do so incrementally and your arms and shoulders will thank you. I played with the 14mm Power Pro (white) and added a fair amount of lead strips (18 ounces) to slow down my overswing. This was my favorite paddle (and weight) until the Aero and Arma series with internal weights were released – Holbrook must have known that some of us yearn for more weight at our fingertips.

The Power Pro series was originally released around a $200 price point. With the additional releases of the Aero (starting at $219) and the Arma (starting at $259) series, the Power Pro series has dropped to $150 allowing for a more affordable option in the Holbrook pickleball family.
That $150 is before the discount, so this paddle is one of the best value options out there.

Should You Purchase the Holbrook Power Pro pickeball paddle?
Overall, the Holbrook Power Pro series is a great choice of paddles for many players. They are a perfect compliment to the improving player’s game without fear of outgrowing the paddle’s performance anytime soon. These paddles combine power, pop, strength, and durability for any game from intermediate to advanced play. I love that the affordable price allows players to enjoy a high-performance paddle at a reasonable price.
Even though Holbrook has come out with more expensive paddles – hard not to do with all of the innovation and technology that is going in the construction these days – I feel like Holbrook understands that we need to keep the sport affordable and accessible. Players should still have a solid choice that allows them to advance their game without spending a small fortune. The Power Pro series is exactly this option – advanced power and control at a reasonable price.
