Fila Men’s Volley Zone Pickleball Shoes Reviews: 4 Things to Know

I remember learning about Fila shoes around 25 years ago when I was a young child, and how I always wanted to get a pair.

When I got into pickleball, I could not believe that Fila made their own pickleball shoes, so I had to fork out the money to purchase my own pair alongside my other ~ pairs of pickleball shoes.

Firstly, I absolutely loved the Fila’s pickleball shoes price point. At under $40, these pickleball are an incredible value. When playing with these shoes, I actually prefer these shoes to the Adidas Barricade pickleball shoes that retail for well over $100.

Let’s go through what I liked and didn’t like about these shoes.

1. First Impressions

Firstly, I haven’t said this before a box, but I absolutely loved the box that the Fila pickleball shoes with the name, “Shoebacca”.

When you open that box, you are met with another fun box showing that these Fila shoes were made specifically for pickleball. So many brands make court shoes or tennis shoes, but not specifically for pickleball.

So, I was thankful that Fila specialized in pickleball shoes, but here’s the first impressions of my Fila pickleball shoes.

The shoes felt comfortable when I first put them on. I wear a size 11.5, and I would say that these shoes were a true fit, which I appreciate.

One thing is that these Fila pickleball shoes felt a bit heavier. I weighed them, and the shoes weighed 14.8 ounces.

Let’s talk about how these Fila pickleball shoes performed on the pickleball court.

2. How The Fila Shoes Performed On the Court

When I test pickleball shoes, I like to understand how the shoes perform with grip, speed, and durability.

Grip

These Fila pickleball shoes have fantastic grip, which I felt was not too much grip or too little grip. This is important because if you have too much grip, you may lack speed.

Thankfully, I was able to use these shoes in a singles match, so I could really test the grip on lateral movements. The grip held nicely.

Speed

Next, let’s talk about the Fila pickleball shoes. While the shoes felt slightly baggy, I still felt that I was able to move around on the court quickly.

For example, when my opponent serves, I hit the ball and then run as quickly as possible to the middle of the court. I felt that these shoes provided the speed needed to move on and around the court quickly.

Durability

When you look at the shoes make-up, I would argue that these shoes have decent durability.

I have not had these pickleball shoes for 6 months yet, but based on my initial assessment of the quality of the material, I would argue that these will have decent to good durability. I’ll plan to check in later when I have more playing time with them.

3. Cost Considerations

At under $50, these Fila pickleball shoes are an insane value. I would pay up to $100 for these pickleball shoes considering the value that I loved.

That said, I checked their website, and it did show that the Volley Zone sneakers are $110.00, so it’s possible that these shoes will not always be under $50.

4. Specifications

I loved the Fila pickleball shoes, and cannot wait to continue using these shoes on the pickleball courts. The shoes had great grip and speed.

The only challenge I had was with the fact that the shoes felt slightly baggy.
